Renovate the home you already love.
You don't have to move to get the home you want. Most of the time, the bones are already there — we just help you see what's possible, and make the brave bits feel calm.
If you're reading this, you've probably been circling the idea for a while. A wall you'd love to open up. A dark kitchen that never quite catches the morning. A growing family, an ageing parent, a home office that's really just the end of the dining table.
You don't want to leave. You want this place to keep working — for the next ten, twenty, thirty years.
That's exactly what we're for.
Where most people get stuck
Renovating feels like a door you can't open without a key you don't have. How much will it cost? Do I need council approval? Is this even the right house to spend money on? Where do I start?
So the idea sits in a drawer for another year.
The truth is, the first step is much smaller than the renovation itself — and far cheaper. Before any drawings, before any builder, we sit down and work out whether your idea is sound, what it might cost, and what the cleverest version of it looks like.
No mystery. No jargon. No surprise invoices.
What working together looks like
- A conversation first. A free, unhurried chat about your home, your hopes, and what's been holding you back. No obligation, no sales pitch.
- A feasibility study. We test your site, the planning rules, the rough budget and the orientation — then put it back to you in plain language, with options.
- Design, together. Concepts you can actually picture living in. We shape them with you, refining until it feels right — not at you.
- Through to the keys. We stay beside you through approvals, tender and the build, right up to the first morning the new light comes in.
Two ways to get started
Not everyone needs the same thing at the same time. Some people just want an honest read on their options; others are ready for a proper masterplan. Both start the same way — with us understanding your home.

Best for owners ready to properly explore their home's potential, especially where light, layout or site constraints really matter. Engaged via proposal; payment is staged, not upfront.

“From the very first consultation, I felt like Sunlight & Shelter really listened to what I wanted and made those ideas work — then made them better.”

The things worth getting right early
Good renovations aren't about more square metres. They're about light, orientation, flow and warmth — the things you feel rather than measure. Get those right at the start and everything downstream gets easier, calmer and usually cheaper.
That's the whole idea behind Sunlight & Shelter: sort the fundamentals early, and let the home grow from there.
> You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to want more from where you live.
